Sycamore, Roaring Run Gorge

Sycamore, Roaring Run Gorge

4x5 silver gelatin contact print

The scan doesn't do the print justice (more so than normal...). In person the side-lit branches all over the place are tack sharp and give the print an overall texture that really supports the slightly soft and glowing sycamore.

I've seen many of these big sycamores ruling the bottom of a run or creek but hadn't found one that was in a position to be photographed until this fellow. I've been waiting for the right light since I discovered him. Things finally came into alignment last weekend.
