Ancient Native American Landmark along the trail from Bodega Bay to the California Central Valley and the Sierra Nevada. The trail was later used by Californios. In 1846, Freemont and Kit Carson galloped along the trail between the two rocks. Now the site of a town called Two Rock.

I dislike power lines, and made several exposures with a long lens to exclude them, but Two Rock is much more about the wide open landscape than the rocks themselves. At least there are two power poles!

Fantastic print. I love the tones, and how the trees and the clouds harmonize together.

Two rock! I was there earlier this year and snapped a similar image with my digital. i dont know how you managed to get rid of the power lines. But you did, and it really completes the serene feeling of the image. Great job! BTW.. thing that confused me, you can clearly see three rocks.. maybe its a local joke??

Hi DarinWC: I climbed away from the road and up to a fence to avoid the power lines along the road, but there are still two power poles in my photo (very small since I switched to a 24mm lens!) You are right there are three rocks, but only two of them are up on the ridge line, so from a distance they are the ones you see. Especially from the South, the two rocks on the ridge line are visible from a long way off and really do make a prominent landmark.
