Here we have two images made using Obsidian Aqua which I have been experimenting with lately. So far I'm impressed and I can see myself using more of this developer in the future.
Hi, Obsidian Aqua is a new staining developer (uses Catechol) that is closely related to Hypercat 11. Jay De Fehr created the formulation and has kindly placed it in the public domain for all to use. This item will explain the developer for you: http://photo.net/black-and-white-photo-film-processing-forum/00a1Ub There is also a lot to found on APUG, the net and other forums that makes interesting reading. It is very easy to make up and use. Neil.
Thanks, Neil! Seems he invented this specifically for folks like me, who have to have EVERYTHING shipped. Valuable information, and I'll be looking into this further.
You are welcome and I hope you do give it a try as it is an excellent staining developer. I have now used it with 5x4, 6x6 and 35 mm film with good repeatable results. I am the same here in Cornwall with supplies and it can be tricky to get the Catechol from time to time. The Catechol I using at moment came from Poland. Neil.
