Interesting street(life?) shot.

The highlights of the car contrasted with the dark door and the dark tones of the figure add much to this composition. He sleeps outside, but the door could provide help and safety inside. In addition you have the scraps of paper litter as pointers to the desperation of the figure and the holes in the stonework like eyes watching out in judgement. A great shot.

Yikes. When I travel to Europe, I use a biker wallet. I keep it in my front pocket, and it wraps around both my belt and a belt loop on my jeans. I have been bumped on the tram and in the subway, and the worst that happens is that my handkerchief gets dislodged. This doesn't help if you're looking at a knife or a gun, but it does thwart the pickpockets.

Tough is right.I've never been robbed there,but attempts were made.As Clive points out the walls eyes are watching this bloke.Did you notice this when you took the shot,or was it just photographic Gods watching over the shot?As always I'm impressed with your take on everyday things.

you got robbed twice and didn't beat them with your Contax? for shame.....and people wonder why I carry an RB67 with a prism finder, it doubles as a bludgeon from which you can take the assailant's photo after you've bashed in their head with it

thanks for all the comments, y'all. robbed...maybe that was too strong of a word...pickpocketted (my step-father) and my boyfriend's bag stolen (by the waitstaff, most likely) off the back of his chair as we ate, inside, at a restaurant. since the bag was stolen at what was supposed to be my birthday dinner, it took some wind out of my sails, and since we'd found a wallet on the street two days earlier and turned it into the police, karma, at least on this trip, paid us no heed. @jdogg.....no, i didn't beat them (hell, i didn't even see them!), and now i get to work on sending them love in exchange for hate. @alan.....thanks for your kind words. when i took the shot, no, i didn't notice the holes (eyes, as you and clive have called them) in the wall behind the man. i've never taken a photo of such a vulnerable person, but something (maybe the photography gods?) prevailed upon me to crouch down and make an exposure. @clive.....your ability to read a photograph is as much an inspiration as the images you post here to apug. i really appreciate your kind, insightful words and always appreciate your posts. thanks, again, to all of you.

Top shot, the shiny car and door seem to mock that poor figure in the centre...really tells a story. I don't know if I would be game to carry something as precious as a Contax around this place.

What a messed up scene. My wife and I were just walking through downtown Denver today and had plenty of chances at this kind of shot. There were lots of homeless out and about. This is pretty fucked up. I don't know that I would have taken it.
