My last post contained links to a lot of information about the slave cabins at Kingsley Plantation. Apart from the their tragic history, in bright sunlight, they are quite beautiful sculptural abstract forms. Here's another from an extended series I'm working on.
Thanks, Miles. I am committed to this series. Despite the awful reminder of the lives of enslaved African people, these cabins might have new life as just what they weren't in their day....beautiful sculptural forms. I offer them with deep regard for what they were.
reading your desciption for this image makes it rather difficult to actually write my impression...the image seems so sensuous...but knowing the building's history makes me want to weep...odd to have the two emotions/impressions simultaneously. thanks for sharing these.
