A very nice composition. The contrast in size of the two is great and taking the childs perspective close to the ground (great reflective parquet floor!) adds a lot showing his adventurous playground. I am not sure how cropping the image left and right would change the image: It would make it more stringent, taking away the homely kitchen-atmosphere. I think I like both versions!

I like the low perspective too. Gotta keep that dishwasher closed so she doesn't climb it.

It's "eyes in back of head" time or you need John Wayne with his steely glint on the Fort Apache rampart. They can be very quiet when needs be. Shooting an arrow through the photographer's hat comes later
