On Jekyll Island, Georgia, fallen trees litter an area called Driftwood Beach. It's a misnomer as the wood didn't drift here at all, but lies close to where it once stood. That these two trees remain standing in the sandy soil seems improbable, but....well....here they are!
I don't think so, Tony, but for a pun that bad someone should tan yours!! Thanks, Bruce. It's a very eerie place and I intend to visit it again when the weather is not so clear and sunny. A lot cooler wouldn't hurt either, but you can't photograph the temperature, so I'll settle for what I can see.
I somehow knew you'd get into the North Florida/South Georgia groove John ... this is excellent ! Great views over at Brunswick and St. Simons Island too ... Skeeter season has already begun ...aaaagh!
my folks spent their winters on st simon's island and after my father died, i drove my mom down for her 3 month stay. i would explore while i was there for a week on either end of those 3 months. driftwood beach was a favorite spot.
