Experimenting with self-made texture screens. These are underexposed grass. Two different kinds. They are then sandwiched with the subject in the enlarger.
I think they are too strong. What do you think?
Interesting -- yes, perhaps a little strong -- but ... There are two major variables to play with in this sort of thing, one is the relative exposure of the mask, but I find myself wondering if shooting the grass from a longer distance to get a smaller size to the pattern could lead to something interesting. Plenty of handles for experimentation! DaveT
I really like the idea, but like you said its very strong. I would try reprinting it in two different stages, and make the grass have a lighter edge and darker center, A reverse vignetting.That all depends also how much to vignetted the edges while printing. If you did that just try reprinting it with less vignetting, and let the sky and grass darken up just a tad.
