Another framing experiment

The mat is white, the iPhone 5S didn't do so good with the white balance this time. I used a black core mat with this, not sure if I like it.

Nice job.I've been matting and framing like this for 25+ years.Reinhold

That's a beautiful picture enhanced by a very classy framing. Congratulations. You're just missing the price tag )

I like the black core line against the inner mat. Also like the signature on the inner mat, and the way there is a wider area below where the signature is. I often do that myself. And, as David says, that is a wonderful print.

I frame for a living and that's pretty much how we do it. The satin black frame looks nice, and don't fret too much about those overcuts...practice makes perfect! Love that photo as well.

I like it, too -- everything, the photo, the matting. My only thought is that the top margin between the top of the photo and the black mat edge looks a little narrow to me. Nice work!

Ok, I'll be the odd one. Great photo, like the space around the print and the offset on the bottom, but I'm also not sure about the black core. I really liked framed print you posted earlier.

Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate it. I'm working out a standard for matting and framing and I posted these to get input to guide my decisions. My intention is to work toward an exhibit, I don't know how that will happen, on the other hand I wanted to do wet prints, wanted my own darkroom, and wanted to do my own matts and framing, I didn't know how that would happen either, but it has. I chose the more difficult way to mat my photos with the space showing the print paper and the offset for the signature, it would have been so much simpler to cut the window a bit smaller than the print, sign in pencil on the mat and be done with it. all your input justified my decision to do it the hard way. Myxine, the price tag for a FB photo, selenium toned, matted, framed and glazed is another thing I know nothing about, but suspect I'll find out some way. bsdunek, the signature is actually on the print, I cut the mat window to allow 5mm to show on the top and sides and 15mm on the bottom for signature and compensate for the illusion of a centered mat window to appear to low. Eric Rose, yes, I just started doing this and I will start practicing to get the hang of it, I was anxious to see a finished print framed and figured I'll work out the details later. tony lockerbie, a good burnishing tool would help, not sure where I will get one yet. The photo is one of my favourites, of the many Dervishes I've taken, probably enough for a series. Trask, good eye, it is a little off, when I get over doing over cuts I will do a new mat, even them up and add 5mm at the bottom to give the photo breathing room from the signature. jerrybro, maybe not so odd, the more I look at the two prints I'm leaning away from the black core, but will have it as an option if I think a photo would look better with it.
