Several weeks ago I was able to participate in a night shoot of 2 iconic Norfolk and Western steam locomotives, the 611 and 1218. My goal that night was to capture the grace, power, and beauty of the 611, a classic Streamliner from the art deco period. Despite my best efforts, I ended up feeling that the picture I made of the 1218 was stronger than that of the 611, but in the soft glow of the darkroom the idea of presenting them as a diptych occurred to me.
I am interested in knowing if my idea stands the light of day, not to mention the critical eye of other photographers whom I respect. Thanks in advance for your comments.
