Sid & Cusco

Sid & Cusco... This was one of those images that I was not sure about at first, but as it dried on the rack it hit me that this might be the best image I made today... Sid had a definite connection with Howard's and Christine's dog Cusco... Trying to co-erce Cusco into the frame was tough as he was eager to follow me around to the wet plate trailer, and confront any interlopers who entered the neighorhood ... but once he settled, it was magic. The bluriness shows his agitated, but also calm state as he accepted Sid stroking his neck, and the calmness I could see on Sid was also amaziing to watch. Then the image hit me another way showing how very short and fleeting a time we have with our animals...

Have ran across Sid's work many times over the years. Nice to see such a good plate of him...and now I miss my dog again. Best, Jim

I really like this. Not sure why. If it had been shot any other way, it would not be nearly as effective I suspect.
