Swept Grasses, Tom's Run

4x5 silver gelatin contact print.

Made on a recent trip to the Forest. I like how the shape of the grass forms (combined with our tendency to read left to right) moves they eyes one direction... but the flow of the water and sweep of the grasses moves the eyes back the other way. I was also attracted to the differences in water movement from near to far.

The print is dependent on the the middle to light gray tones. Looks pretty good on my calibrated monitor, looks kinda muddy on my other monitor...

Looks like a real quality B&W print on my monitor, Shawn.
 
All of the grasses have been severely beaten down and humiliated by the overwhelming forces of nature arrayed against them. Except for that little guy in the center of the far right edge who is standing up straight and strong, seemingly oblivious to the carnage all around him. I just love that...
