Based on a drawing by the 16th Century Italian mannerist painter Pontormo. This is a palladium Ziatype with a good dose of gold chloride in the mix. Part of a series.

often times looking back to the old masters, and making a stellar re-interpretation
 
Thank you all for the positive comments. In academia, where I make my living these days, my work isn't always appreciated. Feminists sometimes take issue with it as well as the conceptual artists. One of my colleagues, Vito Acconci, made a point of telling me in his wonderful droll manner, that he doesn't like anything old fashioned. Not even the old masters? I bet he likes wine and bread.

It's amazing how much true innovation in the arts and sciences is occurring outside the corridors of traditional academia over the past 15 years .... Your work is both classic and enlightening ...

Looks great, Doug! I take old fashioned ANYTIME over the mounds of "new" crap of today. Just like I'd rather listen to The Beatles instead of Coldplay :smile:
