The composition is wonderful, if I understand correctly, she directed you to be like this, then pressed the shutter. She has a good understanding of what she wanted and she was correct, her picture is of an old and serious man. I think whatever she does in life she will do well, I hope her life continues to be good. The other picture is good, but this is very good! Mick.
Well, as i told in another post, she is 5 years (and a half, she pointed out to me) but coming from Romania, after some kind of hard life... Initially i had her posing for us, giving her all sort of hints about eyes, mood, so she was curious about the reason of such care in details. I explained that my camera was a film camera (she was knowing only digital cameras) and that we had to "catch the magic moment" instead of machine-gunning the shutter for a "miracle shot". So i removed the film, and explained all the basics to her (only left out the exposure) including focus, framing, and some composition (don't place the subject in dead centre, or it will look as a graveyard photo...) then, with film replaced, she did all by herself: click, wind film CAREFULLY, re-compose, check focus, talk the subject in the correct mood, and click again... paolo
I'm amazed at the good focus here, at 5 I don't know if I would have taken such a good shot, though, I would say this is not the face of a man looking at a 5 year old girl, but the story gives credence to the photo as a great shot.
