This makes me think of looking out the window of Sleeping Beauty's castle at about the 80 year mark - surrounded by brambles which seem to be leaning just slightly away as though showing the way out. [...and what everyone else said! ]
Probably not Mountain laurel -- only because as I walked around and then laid on the forest floor waiting for this and the hour exposure that followed, I could hear the crash of the ocean waves, occasionally there were drops of rain making their way through the spruces. Long exposures can be very relaxing. I'll have to take my ID book with me next time, find some live ones out there and key them out. These were killed by the spruces that shaded them out. A small correction, this exposure started at 3pm, followed by an hour-long one that took me up to 4:30. I was setting up the camera for another image (full 8x10), but decided that the light would be just about all gone before I got halfway through the exposure. So I packed up and drove over to watch the last of the light over the ocean. This is less than 25 miles away, so I'll get back there...perhaps with the 11x14. Thanks for the comments!
