Sarek, vintage print

A vintage print made 1968 on paper Mimosa Kiel, made in west Germany, (anyone heard of that paper?) hard grade. My first encounter, as a young man, with this wild part of the Swedish fells (probably Kaskatjåkkå or Skaitetjåkkå close to the Pårte glacier) , trying to grasp it’s “wilderness” in a rough and “artistic” way (developing my film in a paper developer in order to get maximum of grain and printing on hard grade!) Later thought it was a photographic mistake, viewing the negative just extremely overdeveloped and later reduced it’s density in some mixture of Farmers reducer. Finding this original print recently in a long forgotten box, I felt: perhaps not too bad after all, it grasps an experience of this overwhelming landscape encountered by a young man for his first time.

Nice, the grain makes the landscape really jump out at you.

Cool grain and image, a nice find.

The story makes the print, but the print stands on its own. True grit! You seem to have gone the way opposite to Svante Lundgren, who started with smooth medium format but who in his later publications (1960ies) also mixed in grainier 35mm prints. I imagine that for Lundgren this was a compromise of some sort, not an end in its own right, as it was with you in sixties.
