This is a set of 70mm expired film images I took earlier this year, it was a hard time for me, I had just learned of my fathers cancer, he's healing well now but at the time it was a heavy weight ... I tried to focus on my work, I feel like my sadness comes through in each photo.
As silly as it may seem, often times strong emotion is a great motivator for an artist. When my marriage was going down the drain, I was at the most prolific ever, produced tons of prints, and now I kind of miss that drive, even though I feel much better. I'm glad your dad is healing, and you should print these. What surprises me about your image title is that you use the film type. If you feel sadness while looking at these pictures, then why not try to reflect on that in how you present the pictures?

I never got in the habit of naming images, it's sort of new to me, so I don't always feel ready to name them, but when it comes to me I'll make it the right name. It's true, I think part of it is that we put our focus into something in order to avoid the emotion but it passes through in our work. Is that why I suck right now?
I saw the series of images you uploaded and I could tell you had something on your mind. Choice of your subjects gave me the hint and the way you printed it made it clearer. I wouldn't equate that with image being bad. I actually think they are quite good.
I should add that I too think this series of pictures is very compelling by virtue of their stark quality. I wouldn't call them beautiful but they are effective, and they make me wonder about the world us humans create around ourselves. Some of the items, like subway trains, could be viewed as almost absurd if you step back and climb outside the frame of convention. Just looking at them as objects, like big worms making their way underground; big metal monsters that are noisy, shake a lot, have harsh illumination, and are very unnatural looking. There is something there in these pictures that I think would be worthwhile to explore.
