Secession with your Sushi?

I gave this one the really cheeky title because this is Mary Surratt's house, where the plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln was hatched. Now the downstairs is a Wok n' Roll. And contrary to what Robert Redford would have had you believe when he filmed in a lesser mansion in Savannah Georgia, Mrs. Surratt was definitely middle class.

I don't think you can read it in this size representation of the image, but the plaque on the wall that the people are reading explains the Surratt house history. Yes, I've seen Gardner's gallows photos. They're quite haunting. Another bit of DC photo history, which is NOT marked, is one of Brady's DC studios still stands. 654 (I think that's the street #) Pennsylvania Avenue is the same building that Brady was in in the 1860s. If you go into the alley behind the building, you can look up and see the skylight window of his studio. The building is currently occupied by an association for African-American women lawyers. From what I've heard, they're using the room for storage and IF you could get in to see it, there'd be nothing really to see besides filing cabinets.
