Mike,I am saddened by the inference. Lee was so kind. I met Lee in the virtual world through an image he made at St. Olaf that I saw on line many years ago. As I have stated before, long before i moved to Asheville, I grew up in Hico, Texas not far from St. Olaf's. Knowing of the church I brought my girlfriend from Los Angeles home one Christmas and proposed to her on bended knee, in the very balcony represented in your photo above. 18 years later St. Olaf still holds very fond memories for my wife and I. Your photo above is beautiful. As were Lee's. Please pass along our thoughts and prayers to Lee's family.Monty
Thank You, Monty..must admit I recalled you telling me that you proposed there and had forgotten that fact. If you are ever in the area you should stop by, it had been a few years since I had stopped there. They removed all of the white paint from the outside and restore the building to it's stone appearance. The interior was repainted also, a soft yellow with the ceiling a green/blue color. Oh and the old pump organ was sent to Dallas and restore - a kind donor who wished to remain private. If I recall it was at St. Olaf that Lee invited David, Jeremy and Matt...then as now, I fear my weekend was spent at work - this was both a sad yet uplifting day spent photographing - and of course it was Texas in August, so it was pretty dang hot to boot...lol.
