32x50 - wet plate assemblage

been a long time since I've posted on here. Finishing up graduate school in the coming weeks and carved out some time to shoot on Saturday. This is my largest assemblage to date. It's comprised of 20 separate 8x10" wet plate collodions on aluminum (total of 32"x50"). I'd previously done a 12 plate assemblage and thought I'd give this a whirl.
Took nearly an entire day to create all the plates, got setup and poured the first plate at 9am and the last plate at 5pm as I was running out of water.

In case anyone wants to see a "bigger" scan of this:

Matt...wow just does not do it, this is great. The fact you started at 9 am and finished at 5 pm, leaves me in awe...the exposure of each plate is so spot on, I am just at a loss for words.

I find it interesting indeed. It looks like I'm staring out an old factory window into an obscure reality. The plates really come together as one.

In the large scan I noticed the flag in the lower left corner. It seems to be placed with precision there - as perfectly as the whole image. Impressive indeed!

unbelievable, this really a great piece of art. This is hard enough with plain film and printing but wet plate. outstanding

Well looky there. Someone is still around making plates ;-)Glad to see you are still making your multi-plate cityscapes Matt. That's a biggin there....I know what it takes to make each one of those and I'm very impressed at your consistency throughout the entire day. The plate second from the top left might appear as a no brainer to some but that's not easy to call when you have nothing but a blank plate to judge development and to have it match the rest of the sky.

I'm amazed at how hard you work, Matt. I have a lot of respect for that. What you do is not an easy thing to pull off.

Proof that sometimes things really are bigger -- and better! -- in Texas! You put a lot of effort into it and really got something special out! Thanks for sharing!Mike

Glad i made it to gallery page 32 of whats new since my last visit. Still like your work very much. congrats on getting through school as well.
