I shot this to emphasize Kristie's widow peak. The 14 inch lens was wide open and I titled the camera back in order to soften the rest of the face even more. The negative is a bit thin for Pt/Pd. After a lot of tests and several not so good prints, this one is not too bad. Speed-a-tron into an umbrella.
Thanks Michael. Your comment about portraiture would make an interesting discussion thread. And again, giving your proclivity, your comment is most appreciated. Best; Doug Schwab
Doug, I have been coming to this portrait a lot over the last few day and I also find very beautiful. There is something quirky, a bit spooky, about her face. Maybe her left eye. It is natural, misterious, almost troubling to me, and your choice of focus is perfect to convey these feelings.
Thanks again. next to the widows peak, her eyebrows are another attraction. Kristie is a dear friend of mine and we shared a studio for a few years. She is beautiful in a very untypical quirky way. I used a 14 inch lens, and despite how close I was, it doesn't seem distorted.
