Thanks, nanian! 20's 30's was the same feel we were thinking. It was crazy fun and doing something so different than normal with equipment and materials I already had was awesome. I'm definitely going to stick with it. Your work was a big inspiration for me to do it in the first place. =)
Shawn - What a great pose and perspective! Can you talk more about the lost detail in the shirt? Was it lost because paper negs are not sensitive to red and blue/green get don't get picked up as well as other colors? I have never used a paper neg and trying to pickup on their nature.
Seems like quite a departure for you, Shawn, but I like it very much. The emotional connection trumps any need for sharpness - in fact, she is better, more evocative unsharp. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, fellows. I appreciate the thoughts. John, Lynn is my girlfriend of the last year so it was very comfortable, which I feel is what contributed to the "connection". It was a big departure, exactly what I was looking for, and the fact I needed no additional equipment or materials was fantastic. zsas, the detail is only lost in the scan. The print itself has detail throughout the shirt (although I had to preflash the print in order to hold it). I am new to paper negatives so can offer no expertise, but it would seem to me it is a VERY contrasty medium. Next time I will preflash the paper I'm shooting with as well.
