ceiling

What happened here? Do you make photos for insurance companies after fires in buildings? Or am I looking at a negative?

Acually its not a fire that did this. The picture is of part of the ceiling in an old abandoned hotel in the mountains. The marks were made by water or humidity seapping through from the floor above.It's not a negative print.
