my computer doesn't show the tones in the shadows so I just have to imagine how wonderful this print is.

There are some areas of shadow in the print devoid of detail and texture (no density in the neg). Do you feel that this image does not "work" without such detail? I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Hi Daniel,If I may..I really like this image and I'm not one to be overly hung up on shadow detail. Here, the negative space (what I can't see) works real well, in my opinion. It creates tension and I like it. I'm frankly more intrigued by what I can't see than the other way around. My only concern, and I hope you don't mind the criticism (and if I'm seeing this correctly, since it is a scan), is the over-dodging (or maybe bleaching?) of the lower right branch. I can tell this may not be an easy neg to print and I see where your vision is going. So, if I'm seeing this correctly and it is a dodge, and I see that branch as an important element to bring out strongly, you may really need to dig deep with some fine brushes and ferri to bring that out. You may go blind doing it, but I think it may be worth it in the end. Always a pleasure looking at your art. Best,Max

Thanks, Maximus- much appreciated. What you're seeing is indeed a poor dodging job on this print. I haven't worked the print further and was curious to hear others' impressions.
