Shot a roll of Rollei Ir 400--Ei 200 Dr-5 deloped normal-1---wish it was sharper but like the warmtones the normal-1 produces---thoughts? I want to continue with some portraiture and the film style
I looked at this last night and it was the motion in the fabric that spoiled it slightly for me, although still a fine shot. I guess IR sometimes divides opinion and not always for the obvious things. The horizon cutting through her head doesn't help, unfortunately.
Peter was very on the fence about the fabric--but your right the horizon line is what bothers me most--couldnt put my finger on it---thanks for sharing---a concept I may try again with shorter exposure, heavier fabric, and a different pose somthing a bit more figurative
Oh no, the fabric motion is the best part of the whole shot!!! It evoked that great Steichen shot, for me, and some of Ian's work posted here. The horizon didn't bother me one bit; what did bother me was the lighting, which makes her nose glow and also makes a feature of her spine. Anyway keep at it, you're on to something!Just noticed that this was dr5 processed, very cool, let me suggest making an enlarged paper neg which can be retouched.
finishing up my 3rd year since I first picked up a camera with intent--its always great to get feedback---a paper negative may be the way to go--time to learn a new process...Gee thanks Keith ....seriously though I really love the knowledge and willing to share that is on this site...a really good find
I also think the fabric motion is terrific. It gives a feeling of movement, something happening. And the fabric itself is wonderful. It reminds me of photos from the 'thirties, which seem to have so much silver in them they glow.
