Thank you all for your kind comments and questions. This photograph was made using an old uncoated lens of simple construction (achromatic meniscus) that is undercorrected for spherical aberration. This combination of factors leads to a diffusion effect ("glow") that is particularly noticeable around highlight areas. The lens is a 300mm/F4 Plasticca, and the negative is on 4x5 film.
