Otis - King of Rabbits

Otis - King of Rabbits

It may seem insignificant to some, but Otis here was my friend for many years. He passed away a couple of weeks ago, after having led a hopefully wonderful life.

I can't believe how I miss this guy. He would seek out your attention to get pets, and let you know if he didn't get enough. When you weren't feeling so well, he'd jump up where you sat and just hang out with you.

Whoever you were, however you looked, whatever language you spoke, and wherever you came from, he would just love you. Except kids that chased him around too much... :)

Thanks for looking,

- Thomas

Love this Thomas! Sorry to hear about your friend, but glad you were able to give him a wonderful life!

Beautiful rabbit, that Otis. THe photographer Victor Schrager did a very cool editorial spread in Martha Stewart KIDS about five years back that showed all the various breeds of rabbits. I had no idea how many people keep them in their house as pets.

I make a pretty good chunk of my income doing studio dog portraits, and as you might expect, a lot of my clients come in with dogs that have not too long to live. It's incredible the love that people have for animals.

Sorry to hear that Thomas. Yes, we do become very attached to our pets. My Corgi, which belonged to my late Wife is nearly 13. I hate to think that he doesn't have many years left. Glad you have some good photos of Otis.

I have a friend with rabbit as pets. They seemed like friendly cats without the attitude. I'm sorry to hear that Otis is gone, but I'm glad you were able to make a nice portrait of him.

Amazing markings around the nose and eye. There may be as wide a spectrum of talent, empathy etc in the animal kingdom as our own. Not all rabbits are the same. I had one that was fairly indifferent to humans but lay down with the cat!

"There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosphy, Horatio" needs to be said to all those who have a simplistic view on "life" in the broadest sense of that word
