Just passing a quick eye on several other shots, I'd go with this one. It captures a winter's sunset very well but frankly with judges it is in the "laps of the gods" or in the laps of whatever strange rules, fixations, dislikes etc the judges harbour.

this is the shot. The vignetting closes out the picture at the top and brings us down to the fielld. Very nice!

the same here. this is the shot.

Thanks for the comments guys, you're right about the vignetting , this is a crop the original was dreadful and I was hoping a picture mount may just hide the problem, I only got these images processed last week so I'll be more careful in future.

Paul I think that I might opt for this one as well with this advice, I would crop the RHS of the photo just short of that small tree in the background.

I'd go with all of them. I'm thinking of getting a 40mm or 50mm for my ETRS, and you're pushing me over the edge.
I wouldn't worry about the vignette, I don't think it detracts at all.

Again thanks for the comments, not sure what to do now, dphphoto you'll never look back after buying the 40mm, I've the pe lens which is a peach of a lens, I use is 90% of the time that I'm out.

Wow! How did you meter this?
