I found this little stool and it reminded me of the stools used in African art to denote power, rank, and the succession of chiefs. The pose is also evocative of African sculpture. Taken with widow light, this took us three tries to get it right. Recently used on a calendar dedicated to the prevention of violence against women because they felt it depicted a powerful woman.
I agree. I tend to get bored with nudes/semi nudes fairly quickly but this image is fantastic. The rug, chord and 'mess' of the scene is perfect. This is genuinely something I would hang on my wall.
strong lines here , her feet and the drop cloth textures work wonderful together, her arms and the scarf (silk?) create a crown over her head , having the studio elemets included takes this beyond a set shot ...
That dress was a scarf if I remember correctly. It can be seen in "Corinthian Eva on Herschel," "After Ingres ," "After Modiglian," and I think she has it wrapped around her head in "After Ingres 2," and in "Eva, Posterior, Diffused." And thanks for your kind words. I am in process of moving and tearing down my darkroom and I don't where and when I'll be able to print in the foreseeable future. Not happy.
