Been going through a rough patch creatively. Two good pictures in the last couple months and I have made A TON of work in that time. Trying to get back to basics... I love abstractions so just having fun.
Sounds wonderful, Shawn, to just have fun. I had a slump like that a couple of years ago, but it comes back when you keep trying.
This picture I find interesting because of the rotation I see. Movement from top left, through the bottom half, sweeping up to the top right and into the center. This gives the eye something to guide it through the picture. Very interesting.
Dan, indeed - I've been making pictures like crazy so hoping to work through it.
Thomas, yes! I placed the center of the roll in the top left and was attracted to the same movement you describe.
You know what... I know now how it appealed to my senses. It's like an ocean wave breaking, and I love the water... Can you photoshop in a surfer on a board too?
Hey Shawn , well done ... I too have been in a " I can't see the photograph because the subject is in the way dilemma ". Your approach is inspiring .... Back to basics and shoot what gives you pleasure ! Thanks
I read your earlier thread, Michael. Wish you best of luck working through it. I hear you as far as output. I think St. Ansel said 10 in a year was doing well. =)
Thomas - a wave! Totally!
Miles - thank you. That's why I do this in the first place so I figured if I have to consciously think about enjoying what I'm doing, well, I'm doing something wrong.
