I estimate the year of the photo and print as 1978. This was my first roll of film in my newly acquired Leica IIIf, with 35 mm Summeron. It had no meter and I tasked myself with learning to shoot without reading the light. In addition, I was practicing blind-shooting, i.e., not looking through the finder.
I like the way the geometry of the building on the left echoes the plaid of the stoop sitter's jacket. Leaving it in was a definite decision. Cropping it would be yielding to convention not of my liking. in my not so humble opinion.
Thanks Vic. I have two Summarons. These are the old thread mount lenses. The one I used here has a mechanical problem now. The aperture leaves have disconnected. I liked this lens so much I got a thread to bayonet adapter and used it on my M2 for many years. Unfortunately, my other one, which looks identical in every way is not so good. I think it's not a coated lens. It has lower contrast and the highlight separation is not so good. I recently picked up one of those 35 mm aspherical Summacron-M lenses, only to find my shutter on the M2 is on the fritz. The first place I brought it for repair said their Leica guy retired. Have another place in mind.
