An interesting picture. I wonder if it might be a little better if the sky was cropped out.

The sky is needed in this image to provide somewhat of a vanishing point for the viewers eye.

The sky is fine, the change that would make this photograph considerably better is more contrast in the foreground. On my monitor it looks quite flat. Otherwise, this picture is quite nice and very well composed. All the best. doc

Nice job. Having been over there a number of times, I can tell you that it is often grey, and the lave beds are pretty much the same tone of dark black.
