Thanks, Michael, I appreciate that. It really doesn't seem that difficult anymore. I started with 8x10 and had a hell of a time seeing what I was doing. Since then I think a handful of things have really helped, especially with 4x5 and 2 1/4.

1. I use a non staining developer and make well exposed but soft negs using highly dilute Rodinal which makes them easy to see through when sandwiched with white paper.
2. I use a diffusion enlarger as a light source which also makes them easier to see through than the bare light bulb I used to use.
3. Itty bitty dodging and burning tools.
4. I always place a straight print right in front of me to use as a sort of road map, usually taped about halfway up the neck of the enlarger.
5. I do it constantly and practice helps. =) Another 10 years and I'll be ready to go!

i am sure this scan does a dis-service to your print shawn !
