I was too lazy and too time-crunched to go back in the house for a tripod so I put the camera on the ground and raised the front slightly by resting it on my Holga. Thanks for looking!

At last! A good use for a Holga! The 32 Plymouth was a gorgeous model. Do let us see it.

Jim, too funny! As soon as the weather gets nice enough that he'll take the Plymouth out of the garage, I want to test this lens out on it.

so, which lens is this?

Thicktheo - this is a lens from a pair of binoculars. Another APUGer sent me one and kept the other. It's still in the barrel from the binoculars and is just electrical taped to a lensboard for now.

Wow! I missed the posting. and bill h had to tell me you'd gone and used the binoc lens. Nice! Car shots are fun and that's a great one. Can't wait for the '32 Plymouth. I've got a soft spot in my hearty for Plymouths - grew up in the back seat of a 51 wagon.

On semi-technical note (how technical can you get with a hacked off binocular lens?) I think the barrel acts as an aperture on that lens, narrowing down to a smaller diameter than the lens itself. If you do take it out, I'd be interested in seeing what happens - for me, it's not broke- I ain't fixen' it.

Whitey - Glad you saw it! I think the barrel takes it down to about f5.6 (ish) and I added some cardstock to the back of the lensboard to make it more like f8 (I think). I wanted just a little more depth of field (and I might try making a f16 one, too). My math could be off (everyone who knows me knows how pathetic I can be at math), but it seemed to work in the two shots I made. I need to do some more. Hopefully my neighbor's car will be out soon or hubby's '70 Challenger will be finished.
