Out of curiosity, how was the film stored? What ISO did you shoot it at? How did you process the film?

I see it was a very short development, I wonder if that had any effect on the mottled effect? Is that 3 minute development and 2 minute presoak?

No idea about storage conditions. It looks like at some time there was some considerable humidity present. EI works out about 3 or a bit less.
Processed in Jobo paper drum, speed 4 on CPA2. 2 minute presoak and 3 minute development, yes.

The mottled effect looks to me to be the result of interleaving paper affecting the emulsion. It's much more present on these shots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/werra/4660106652/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/werra/4602107914/ , both developed without presoaking. Current sheet is from the same box.

Thanks for the update. Fansinating. The first shot is the most successful I think but none the less amazing that a film over 60 years old and of dubious storage can still make images!!! Super XX was my large format film of choice for many years until it was discontinued. I have 100 sheets of 5x7 and about 235 sheets of 4x5 in the freezer vintage circa 1980's and waiting for just the right project to bring them back to life for. It will be like opening a bottle of vintage wine.

Very nice.
