Then you must be blessed with beginner's luck -- this is beautiful. The tones and textures are wonderful.

I hope it's not luck. I worked very hard on it getting the exposure and filter right and then redoing the dodging several times in the upper left corner and lower right. They turn out black other otherwise. Plus, a little dodge in the center of the flowers otherwise they were blown out. Thanks for the note.

The flowers seem to be cut off on the right side of the frame but this is only a minor distraction. The blossoms towards the back are slightly out of sharp focus while the center of the print is nice and sharp. This can be a little hard to control with a 50mm lens. Also moving the plant farther from the "background" and using a moderate telephoto would also be a different look. Very nice job printing.

I will try that. I did try a telephoto lens, but the exposure was off. That was one of the things I was experimenting with, telephoto, 2x converter, macro lens (filter type) on that roll. My husband thought I was nuts shooting 24 frames of a 2.99 flower in a pot. Th

I like where you are going here... I find more exploration of this subject and more careful framing would make a more significant and polished image.

i always find images like this hard to critique ..
i'm not sure where you were coming from .....

if it was a study of light and how to just light flowers on a chair
you did well at exposing/printing &C this ...

if it was a still life ... with beauty lighting ... it isn't bad, but ..
it would be interesting to see how standing back a few feet
and showing the terrycloth and the flowerpot and the chair together with the flowers ...
and maybe drop the light back a little bit, and add a dim light on the right side
to fill a bit ...
there are some beautiful "crops" in this image, if you ever want to just do tight crops
of flower-forms ... nice work !

i hope you continue with this subject matter ... it would be nice to see where you go with it.
