gorgeous. the tones are so smooth and I love the composition. did you experiment with her hands in different positions?

I didn't pose her, other than to tell her that I wanted her to sit up there on the back of the couch and that, if she didn't mind, I'd like to be able to see up her dress some. Lila was a good sport. For some reason, I didn't think about her hands.

This was a tricky negative to print, since the shoes were so white and the values under he skirt were so dark. In the end I guess I had underexposed the shadows, so formulating a good contrast mix and exposure for the print, took a few tries.

I would be very interested in why you chose to compose the shot like this because I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't really care for this shot. In my opinion I find it flirting with the edge of vulgar more than anything else. I'm no prude (believe me) but excluding the technical aspects of a difficult tonal range and a Pd print, its essentially an up skirt shot that's not that different from something I could find very quickly on the internet - as I said, def not a prude
If you have the time I'd love to hear your thoughts on it - I am far more interested in the discussion of the photo as you saw it than any kind of argument about the so-called morals, either positive or negative.

I like this image for it's quality and aesthetics. I think is a wonderful image of the age old wonder, "whats up the skirt" for example, also I like how she's kind of trying not to show all, again too me, a very well constructed photograph and by the way, the tones are killer!

I'd go with all of the above, just love this shot, the image just flirts with the eye and the printing, just spot on, well done and thanks so much for sharing, Paul.

I've been pondering this as I walk around the house today - I think its because I can't see her face, without it there is no reference to if she was "allowing" this pic to be taken or not. I do of course realize that its a studio/model and the crazy idea of "sneaking" around with an 8x10 but you know what I mean. lol

It is a provocative shot and I like that. IMHO it is not vulgar at all, the body language speaks in absence of the face. I love people who can step out of the comfort zone just enough to provoque a thought.
