Mono Lake 2010 (HLM)

Contact print using Kentmere Fineprint VC FB Glossy. Applied Type 2 High Light mask with Arista Lith film on the Tuffas and slight bleaching on the mountains.

Apologies for the scanner dust. I wish I had a 5x7 enlarger! :(

Really impressive darkroom techniques, and great shot! I look forward to doing the workshop with you. I've got a nice old wooden 5x7 too (a Kodak No. 2, circa teens, I believe), but I don't think I will be shooting it then. I'll likely bring some 35 and medium format stuff.

Thanks 2F/2F! I too am excited about the workshop - I wish it was May already. I'll most likely haul a 5x7 and an MF.

Nice print ghost count,I would also like to ask you about this, have tried a little making mask but was not very successful.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.

Mike,
The problem I had before when enlarging was registration so I invested in a carrier for 4x5 and smaller. For contact printing, it turns out registration is not as critical since the error is not magnified. As far as getting the masks developed - lots of trial and error. To make it more difficult there are rumors (or maybe no longer) that FS will be discontinuing the Arista Lith film. Though, I've tried Ultrafineonline lith film and it works well enough - more trial and error.

very nice print. I guess you have to use a mask with kentmere I could never get the rich tones I was looking for till I use Oriental Seagull and ansco 130 developer

You should try to lith this like you did with Alabama hills print ...I think this neg. has a lot to offer , may be Lodima...longer scale paper needs no masking, may be a bit preflashing

Thanks Michael.

Thanks ilya, I'll give it a try. I was afraid of the tonal scale in the clouds and mountains might not show but it'll give me an excuse to try Lodima. Incidentally, does Lodima lith?

good question I have no idea , if you try post the results it would be nice to know.

Apparently it does, Wolfgang Moersch has some on Flickr and it glows nicely. I'll order some and try your suggestions. Thanks for the idea.
