I like the feeling peace and tranquillity of this shot and the skill that the the exposure and processing has been handled to show detail in the highlights and shadows and still show tone in the skies, the tree on the right holds the viewers eye in the frame and concentrates their eyes on the main subject.

Thank you all. As John no doubt can confirm, one of Caffenol's greater strengths is that it compensates quite a bit, which makes expsosing for shadows and developing for highlights quite easy. and the midtones are just beautiful, either I use Acros of TMX.

@Lee. The church is typical of Norwegian stone churches of the 11th and 12th centuries. This one is in southern Norway, not 50 miles from Oslo. All churches of this kind are oriented east/west. Large tall Romanesque windows to the south, entrance to the east and altar to the west. North facade devoid of windows to save heat loss.

Regarding the composition. Sometimes it pays to have a Land Rover. I drove it into a big snowdrift and mounted the tripod on the roofrack in order to get the shot. Didn't want to get too much perspective shift, but wanted to get the tree on the right and the stone fence in the foreground in on the frame. Any lesser car and I'd have to have invested in a 55mm
