This is the finished version. I still can't get the scan quite the same as the print, but its pretty close.

Major improvement. Now go have your stout...you have earned it.
 
I always lose highlight detail when I scan a print. I'll get the hang of it one day (probably not...). So, now you can join the print exchange - by the time you have to send out a print, it'll be another 6 weeks time, so no worries! Cheers, Bob.
 
Its the nature of most scanners (actually the software) to clip the ends off the scan (highlights and shadows) so that the image doesn't look washed out.

Thank you folks. I chose this neg as my first print because it has a full range of tones to play with. I'm dead chuffed with the way it came out. I've only been making prints for three evenings and I'm addicted! Let's see now, do I buy food this month or more paper...
 
I hope I can make my first printing attempt after 24 years without a darkroom look as good as you have here. I should know by Monday night... :smile:
