I tried my hand at building guitars for a time (ran out of room and money) I enjoyed it but it was difficult to get all of the contours right and bracing at just the right thickness to adjust the tone of the wood, I can imagine how much more difficult it would be with violins.

I use to build classical guitars before I found that "I" enjoyed making violins much more than guitars.
