The Empress

The Empress

Very ancient stone wall carving called Offering Procession of the Empress as Donor with Her Court, ca. 522. From China, The Empress sculpture originally was located in the Binyang Cave chapel at Longmen, a one-kilometer stretch of limestone hillocks that flank the Yi River, south of Luoyang city, Henan province.

Photographed at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City.

Lit by one light source on the left that was flush with the wall. Spot metered for my base reading just left of center, so that most everything to the left would be properly exposed and then taper off exposure to the right. Just as it was lit.

Photographed with the Olympus OM-4 with Zuiko 55mm f1.2. Film used here is Fomapan 400 exposed at ASA 320. Developed in Thorntons 2-Bath for 4 minutes 30 seconds.
