i have never seen a carbon print " in real life "
and i too would love to see one ...

the relief quality of this image must be amazing.

Thanks. The relief on this print is a little more subtle, but where it really shows its qualities is in that dark area on the lower left -- that area is full of detail and relief. The hightlights on the trunks match the print very well (at least on my screen). Almost too light, the trunks glow -- aided by the extra gloss of the fixed out glossy fiber photo paper the image was transferred onto. This gloss is slightly different than the gloss of the gelatin in the mid-tones and shadows areas (due to the fact there is less gelatin in the highlights than in the darker areas of the print -- allowing the qualities of the paper surface to show more in the highlights.)

I matted and framed this puppy up today -- I'll live with the print for a week and see how I feel about it then.

the trees have such a strong presence. and nicely balanced by the soft leaves and surrounding foliage. lovely.
