This is one of the images I made during a workshop in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, november 2009. I am in the process of adding images like this one to my portfolio.
a fine photograph indeed, but also this is a very fine print and I think you deserve 5 stars for the print and the way you still have detail in dark areas, solid black where it is most striking, and the heavy sky with that light really makes an interesting eyeful! Well, two eyeful's if you have two eyes...
Thanks everyone for the much appreciated comments. My primary aim in printing this image was to preserve the quality of the light, and indeed, as Perry Way says, also the detail in the dark areas. This print is a scan of a print on RC paper; in the final print on baryta paper there is is little bit more visible detail in the shadows, but the RC holds up very well. That said it was quite complicated and involved split grade printing for the sky (grade 0) and most other parts (grade 3,5 base) Also, some dodging was necessary to preserve the light on the foreground. I agree with michael9793 that in general it is difficult to print sunrises so I was particularly happy with this one.
