this is quite nice indeed ! I do like to Pd tone kallitypes for color and longevity. which dev, clear and fix did you use ?
 
I loke the colouring in this print apart, I am afraid, from the green surround.

Hi,

I follow Sandy King's formula. I use a 20% Sodium Citrate adjusted with Citric Acid to a pH of 6.0, followed by two 3% Citric Acid Clearing baths, a rinse and then the Palladium toner until I get the color I want. Then I rinse and fix in a 5% Sodium Thiosulfate that includes 10 g Sodium Carbonate and 2 g Sodium Sulfite. Cot320 gives a more neutral brown color than Fabriano Artistico.

Roy, can you explain that some more?

I scanned the print with one of those 4-in-1 copyers and tried to adjust the tones with some free software called ImageEye. Not the greatest but that is all I have for now. Some day I would like to get an Epson V700 or 750pro and some decent software but that is about 2 paychecks down the road.

thanks Alan .... if you want a bit richer ( darker shadows) try Tf-4 dilute 1:8 or other 1/2 diluted alkaline fixer for 2 to 3 mins. Kallitypes are a little tricky to scan perfectly.... I like COT320 also because no pretreatments needed to get good results .... a little humidification can give a bit more density also... sodium acetate and ammonium citrate also are worth trying for developers .... remember to have fun !

I'll try your recommedations. The relative humidity in my darkroom is about 75% but increases to about 85% during the Spring and Fall rainy seasons. I'll give the alternative developers a shot. And see what some extra humidification does.

Download a copy of The GIMP . There is a version that runs on Microsoft's stuff. It's similar to PhotoShop (plus and minus some features) but you can't beat the price ($0). I've been using it for a dozen or so years.

Alan, make no mistake, I like the image, it is just the surround that I find distracting. I know nothing about scanning so am not able to offer any comments !
