Cody Gross came for a visit and some work in the darkroom this past weekend. He was kind enough to sit for a portrait as I tried out a new lens on my 8x10 camera.

So - what's the lens? You're not gonna say A without giving B, are you?

I think it works really really well. It's has tremendous presence. Verito?

Pretty cool stuff. Opens up a whole new area of work. How long did Cody have to sit still for the exposure?

Best, Jim

Thanks all. The lens is a P&S Visual Quality. I can see just from the first few times working with it what all the hoopla is about- a very distinctive look. I have much to learn about its full potential.

Cody was very patient for this 16 second exposure (I told him 15 seconds), given the slow paper (rated ASA 4) and an additional yellow filter to reduce contrast.

All the best,
Daniel

stunning; more then a portrait. this is 'reading' in a 17th Cent. Dutch painting !(next image; he looks at us and tells us what he is reading)
