this is a workprint (5x7 pt/pd) taken at the old ranch on the steens earlier this month ..... i was more excited about the potential of this image than i am at the result -- maybe needed to move in tighter?
Consider eliminating the area from just above the sill to the bottom. The top half is nice with the dark/light divide, and the clothespins like birds on a wire. IMHO, the sill and bottom rail pull the eye away from the better scene.
thanks for the thoughtful critique -- i do agree that all the action is in the upper right quadrant and that's where i was headed, but the closer i got to it, the more the perspective raised the clothesline above the wall (the bldg is on a bit of a slope) ..... i hate cropping large format negs (makes me feel like a failure), but i might try scanning this in, cropping and outputting a larger, more panoramic negative so i can take another crack at it in pt/pd -- not sure if it's worth all that trouble, tho
