If you crop the upper half it would be a great shot. That would remove the busy area on the bottom and let your eye concentrate on the landscape. there are so many nice tones in the photo. At frist I thought it was flat but as I looked at it the tones seem to fit the photo and why do we always have to have whites and blacks in every pictue, we don't. darking the sky slightly would make it just a little more dramatic. again love the shot and all that is going on in it.
If he had ventured to the Lakes and seen this, I think John Davies would have taken it in its entirety as you have done, with its mixture of human habitation and wild country.
Having just seen his exhibition, I can't think of a better compliment.

Mike, when I (eventually) get back in my darkroom, I'll have a go at a silver-halide version. I agree with you that the sky needs a little work, but I think I prefer the balance of the picture as-is.
