Are there any word inscribed on the stone Rob? It`s just that I think the image would have had much more impact if the stone was more prominent in the picture.

i think the image holds up well as is.... The stone is a succinct element with quite strong implication in its shape and relative placement in the scene .... IMHO .....
 
Very nice photo! Makes me want to return to Scotland. But yr notation seems to indicate that Scots were going to the new world in the 10th century? Is that what you meant?
