A very early example in my 4x5 experience (less than 10 shots at that point). One type of possible "action" photography using a 4x5! Foreground has been cropped slightly from 4x5. Critique welcome.
How do I say this and have the grin and wink come through ...? ... If this is an example of your early work, then I'd really rather you didn't post any of your "later", "better" stuff, 'cause the rest of us will be too embarrassed to show ours (I will anyway ... ) Awwwww shucks ... too late ... I just saw your "Threatening Storm" post ...
When you print this (the train) I'd like to buy a print please.
Thanks John... I just happened to have a great day that day (chasing the train from spot to spot - setting up, knocking down). Action 4x5 shooting is HARD work! It's a good thing I had my reliable old "manual" Calumet that day. The AE-1 Program I was shooting in parallel packed it in (a fitting broke inside unbeknownst to me) and I lost the works.
As for the print, you're on. I'll let you know when it turns out later in the winter.
As for your kind feedback about my beginner's luck, let me just say I have since managed to do most of the usual view camera mess-ups (pulling film holder away before returning the dark slide, pulling out the darkslide that is against the ground glass, and my favourite, taking the shot with the darkslide in place! - doh!)
Oh well, those misadventures are all part of the fun and the joy of getting a good 'un once in a while!
Ahhh someone else knows of Nick Morand.
Yeah this is a great image MP
I've been photographing up in Jasper the last several spring/summers - our Canadian Rockies are wonderful eh?
